Help! All my photos have disappeared from my camera memory card!

I don't know what happened! Today I was showing a mate some pics of DS on my camera then I took a few new photos... I then went to view them and my camera displayed 'no picture' and ALL of them had disappeared! It's a 512mb card and had loads of videos and photos on it of DS this month which I hadn't got round to putting on my computer yet But I haven't a clue what happened- to erase all photos you need to press specific menus etc so it's not that easy to do by accident plus even though there are no photos on the card now, my camera now says I can only take 35 photos (!) which makes me think all my photos are hidden somewhere as usually my 512mb card can hold >500 photos at a time.

I haven't a clue what's going on, has anyone else experienced this or know how I can get my photos back or find them on my camera?

Haven't had that happen but how about trying to transfer to your computer to see if you can still get them all on? would that work?

ILikeYourSleeves · 20/08/2008 22:52

I tried that after I took 2 new photos, they were on the card and went onto the computer but nothing else transferred. I think the memory card may be knackered, does anyone know if it can be recovered?

dont touch it
take it to a camera shop, or email the manufacturer of the card
there are programs to retrieve every pic ever taken, often they'll get pics from even before a cards been formatted.
my dp used to work in memory cards, thats how i know.
buy a new card and use that while you get it sorted.

all of my holiday photos have gone too last day of holiday we had 'low battery' on it and then 'corrupt data?'. Beautiful pictures have all gone. have tried recovering them using a couple of bits of software (will post links tomorrow) but card is so corrupt that card reader won't even register it. Have now left a couple of messages with a data recovery specialist in hopes they can recover them but they haven't got back to me yet.

oh kitten, thats sad
hope the recovery people can help...

thanks, I'll pester them today and see if they answer, if not I'll try the camera shop route tomorrow.
