I use Vista - sometimes IE and sometimes Firefox, and I need to block access to a website that I'm fed up of my son using.

Hmm, there might be an option in your router/firewall, if you have one or block it in the hosts file. NOTE: It's harder to change it on Vista.

Crikey - that hosts file thing looks a bit scary. I think I'll get dh to decipher it - computers are not my forte! We have a firewall - AVG, I think - so will maybe try that. Thanks

BlockSite lot easyer than messing with host files if youre unsure

Sadly i dont use anything microsoft (aka bloatware) related so cant advise on IE

Ahhh, that looks a bit more do-able to someone with my (extremely) limited IT capabilities! Thanks.

I don't think blocksite will help much. If he's got any nous at all he will just switch to using IE and you'll be no further forward.

The hosts file method will stop it completely.

If you have a separate router that will also be able to block it completely.

Thanks ED - I've passed it on to dh, who knows the mystery ways of the computer
