Geeky stuff

I have, I suspect, a very basic mac question

How do I defrag? My machine has been getting slowly slower, and I realise I've never actually defraged
Does it have a fancy mac name - can't find it (disc utilities looked scary, is that it?)

TIA

Google 'defrag Mac'. There's a lively debate about this in techy forums. The consensus is you don't need to, but there are ways of doing it if you want to go ahead anyway.

Deleting stuff in Trash can speed things up, though.

Drefragging on a mac happens automatically any time you install new software or update anything.

If your mac is slowing down try reinstalling whichever version of OS you are running.

Should sort you out.

Ha! I had this feeling i didn't think i had to (v unusual for me to be right about anything techie )

Have deleted trash recently - reinstalling OS sounds scary

I'll take your word on the lively debate, frogs
