i-tunes trouble

Can anyone help me please! When I try to play anything from my itunes on my laptop it tells me it can't because the original file has not been found. Oddly though, it will play stuff which has been purchased from i-tunes. Eeek, nearly 3000 songs have gone into thin air!!!

do you still have them in your music?
it should give you the option to click to retrieve it from its original location

Have you got them in your hard drive? Right click on a song and open its info dialog, it should show the location.

If you do have the songs on your hard drive you should be able to "import" folders with them in back into itunes.

you probably haven't imported them to the library.. if it is songs that you got from cd (you say you can play the stuff you got on itunes so its probably not a problem with authorisation onf your computer).
