Coloured items in my Google Calendar

I've set up a shared calendar for family things. It's great, it's going to revolutionise the way we do things. But does every entry have to be the same colour or can I get different people to have different colours? Is it a settings thing? I'm sure I'm being thick, but I can't see anything on the help settings...

You can set calendar item colours by right clicking them and choosing "Label".
Not certain about automatically setting colours though (unlike in email which is easy).

Thank you! That will be great - don't need it to be automatic, just need to be able to flag different types of events...
