PLEASE CAN YOU HELP MY BIG BROTHER,,,,he has a bug

he had an email and opened it
it was about Windows XP security centre.
anti spyware protection.
he clicked on link and did chck. but didn't complete download.

so now it has taken over his pc. will not let him access Norton antivirus(his anti virus)
It keeps trying to connect to the internet.

HELP what can he do,
I suggested AVG as i have found it good. so he is using a trial disc.
any one???

This has just happened to us - we had an email from an airline to say we had bought some flight tickets in the States which we hadn't and the link was a trojan - Luckily our spybot killed it immediately - We have AVG and its very good but it only runs daily checks - If you load Spybot search & destroy it would find it straight away and get rid immediately - its free and warns you about anything dodgy trying to get in

in setting some where (iknow vague) you can reset your computer settigns to a time before you opened said email or loaded up whatever phoney programme - we had a similar a few weeks back and by re settign computer to earlier date in sorted it.....

will pass that on thanks. he is now trying spybot.
I am a bad sister as I find it funny. he was so "I am so perfect" when we got a virus, I did have a mean giggle
