Deleting stuff off xbox 360 history

I've just bought my son an xbox game off ebay for christmas. When it arrived I noticed it has a little scratch on the disk...it should be ok but I'd like to test it and make sure since its a christmas present.

But if I play it on our xbox it will stay in the history and the kids will see it, does anyone know a way around this?

I was thinking of creating a new gamer profile, testing it on that and then deleting the profile...would this work?

I have no idea about Xbox as I am a PlayStation lady... but I do know that our local Blockbuster does a scratch-removal treatment on discs for £2.

They did it (for free!) on a game I had rented that was unplayable, and it has worked a treat.
(it's Harry Potter in fact, have just been practising Occlumency with Professor Snape!)

Or else use a friend's Xbox I guess? Though the Harry Potter was freezing 15 minutes in, so you might have to play it for a bit to find out. How are your gaming skills?

the new profile is a good idea... I think this should work ok.. just make sure this one is logged in before you insert the disk...

Also remember to delete any saved game files that may be created outside of the profile that you create
