cc is copy to and bcc is blind copy - that is the people you're ccing can't see the people you're bccing...

bluenosesaint · 06/07/2008 21:49

bbc - blind carbon copy
cc - carbon copy

umberella · 06/07/2008 21:49

cc- carbon copy
bcc- blind carbon copy

bluenosesaint · 06/07/2008 21:49

bcc obviously

2point4kids · 06/07/2008 21:49

cc is to copy someone in
bcc is to 'blind' copy them in, so none of the other people receiving the email know that person has also been sent it

bethoo · 06/07/2008 21:50

cc means carbon copy so if you want someone else to see the email and bcc is blind?carbon copy which means that tht recipeint will recieve the email but the original person you send it to will not know that the person you sent via bcc received it.
HTH

Flamesparrow · 06/07/2008 21:50

to copy it to people - bcc is blind so they dont see the other names, cc people can see

BlueDragonfly · 06/07/2008 21:51

so i could send an email to x and then bcc it to Y Z and their email addresses are not seen by any of the others ?

Flamesparrow · 06/07/2008 21:51

oops - late reply!

Flamesparrow · 06/07/2008 21:51

yup

WilfSell · 06/07/2008 21:54

actually what bcc is really for is you dobbing someone in and then they drop you in it by hitting 'reply all' and the people who were only cc'd find out who else you copied to. Ho hum. Have been there.

BlueDragonfly · 06/07/2008 21:56

can the people i bcc to see each other?

I have people who want their email addresses secret from others and i want to mass mail ONCE !

OP posts:
umberella · 06/07/2008 21:58

no they can't see each others addresses iff you put them all in the bcc box.

umberella · 06/07/2008 21:58

and even if someone hits 'reply all' they won't.

2point4kids · 06/07/2008 22:01

reply all will not reply to anyone bcc'd!

WilfSell · 06/07/2008 22:03

No but the bcc person can reply all? i'm sure this has happened to me...

BlueDragonfly · 06/07/2008 22:04

have decided to text the awkward ones!! Thank you though

Can they wilfsell????

I never knew that. I will be wary from now on!!

nannynick · 06/07/2008 22:09

using BCC could trigger Spam filters at your ISP. So I'd suggest avoiding it's use, as a means of sending the same message to many people.

EvelynsDad · 07/07/2008 08:56

No competent ISP will filter on use of bcc. (I don't think it's even technically possible).
