MS Word - that thin thing which is used to scroll up and down document on right hand side of my doc has disappeared

Something has happened to my Word settings. That thin grey tube thing which you use to scroll up and down pages of document has gone.

Anyone know how to get it back.
BIG PLEASE!!

go into Word options, Advanced, and check the option Show vertical scroll bar.

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the View tab.
Under Show, select Vertical scroll bar check box.

Finally got the scroll back. took ages becasue I'm on a Mac and have to go thorugh Preferences. helped to know wha t that thing is called though so I could search help

oh I'm on a mac too! thought you were on a pc so I gave the pc answer!

Aaah, I should've come back on to say I was struggling and couldn't follow your instructions, but I felt too embarrassed.
... all worked out in the end though and i can continue to scroll
