Anyone know why my iPod has suddenly started playing things in the wrong order within albums?

I don't know of a shortcut for the duplicates in itunes. I find it easier to find them using show browser on the view menu but it's still a tediously fiddly process. misdee's suggestion for deleting several at a time does work I think but if you have more duplicates than you can see it won't help.

To play in order, go into the settings menu on your ipod, I think, and you can turn "shuffle" off. I usually use this option the other way round, as I use playlists which are often too long to listen to in one morning, eg between getting up and leaving the house to take DS to CM and myself to work. So I prefer it to play playlists in a random order. At some point I think I should go back to listening to some of my newer CDs and some old favourites as they were recorded, but with a 14 month old and early pregnancy exhaustion/nausea combined don't know when that will happen.

Check that your ipod is not set to 'shuffle'. Go into 'settings' in the first menu, scroll down to 'shuffle' and choose 'no' (not 'songs' or 'albums').
