Longshot I know, but can anyone help me edit my website, I need some serious help!!

I have access to all the pages in my website to edit/change them myself, except for the home page for some reason. My web designer says this is because The home page is not part of the catalog system, so it cannot be amended using the admin area. In this case, the actual page on the webhost needs to be amended.

I want to make the changes myself rather than asking him (it's complicated), have logged onto my webhost only to be confronted with a load of gobboldigook, and I'm not IT illiterate or anything.

Does anyone know how the heck I even find the homepage info to start editing it? Or do I have to go through the web designer again?

usually the frontpage will be called something like index.htm or index.html.

Try using your http address to get to your website - if the path it shows doesn't have anything else it means the default index.htm is being used I think.

How do you normally edit files ? With mine I do it on my home pc and then ftp to the server (which is not the same as the http address).

normally I go to my website, add /store/admin to the end of the address in the address bar, and it takes me to a page that I have to log into and from there I manage the website, see all the orders, add products, edit info, look at web activity and who's logged on etc etc, but the homepage isn't there
