How do you do a 'screen grab' from a clip on your PC?

I'm sure it's really simple, but I can't figure it out Right clicking when it's paused (as you would if you were grabbing a still picture) doesn't bring up any options to save that frame, and I can't see anything in the drop down menus (using windows media)

TIA!

have you got a button on your keyboard that says 'print screen'?

if you hit that it copies the screen to the clipboard, so you can use Paste to put it into Photoshop or wherever.

Down load a trial of Snagit from Techsmith.com. Its by far the best way of getting images off your screen

You may have to hit 'alt', and Prt Scrn at the same time. Open your graphics package, (mine is simply 'paint' select the Edit option at the top of the screen and then, in the dropdown menu, click on Paste.

Hold down Ctrl and hit Print Screen, then go to another application (Word) and right click on the mouse and select Paste.

Ok thanks , I'm going to try the print screen thingy, but DH says that when he's tried that before it hasn't worked - it's grabbed the shot of the screen application running but not the actual video.......3:1 makes me think he did it wrong tbh

Failing that, ta for the recommendation CMOT I'll give it a try

I wish I could tell you I had a really good reason for doing this but sadly I'm trying to grab a particular shot to use as an avatar on a geeky SF forum

No, print screen doesn't work - it pastes a black screen with the WMP control bar across the bottom rather than the actual video frame

Ok wandered off halfway through typing this as DH rang and got huffy that I didn't trust him that it didn't work

Just been playing with some of the other video editing software we have and discovered that Nero actually has a 'snapshot' command that does a very nice screen grab, problem sorted

Thanks very much for your help
