My computer has decided to start displaying all the formatting. Dots between words, etc. Does anyone know how I switch it off please?

in the toolbar is a button that looks like a backwards P ¶

hit it and it'll disappear

Cant see it in the tool bar but that symbol is the one all over my documents. Is there a shortcut to do it?

Thanks BTW

I am on a Mac so it's set up differently but if it's not in the toolbar I can go to File-> Preferences-> Non-printing characters and select 'show' or 'hide'.
I think in Windows this might be under Tools -> Preferences or Word-> Options or somewhere

cntrl+shift+*
is the shortcut I think.
