Deleteing the words that come up when you type is easy (you put m, mumsnet comes on the list below)

Put the cursor in the box and press control delete

(Well I think that works)

Not sure I follow you KatyMac, but thanks for answering.

In the box that you type what you are going to search for

Put the cursor there & press control & delete

& all the words that come up automatically will disappear

Oh right, I see. But how can I find the list of searches that has already been done? I am sure I have seen this before but can't remember how it was done.

If you have Vista, you go into Tools, see Toolbars, click on this and see History.

To delete you need to go into Tools ,see Internet options, see delete History, and delete Cookies.

HINT to all men. After viewing porn and before your DP gets home go to tools - internet options and clear/delete history.

Greyriverside · 16/06/2008 13:16

Also internet options - Content tab. Click Autocomplete and Clear Forms

Guttersnipe · 16/06/2008 17:43

That deletes the history of websites you have typed in.

I still have not found a way of deleting the terms searched for on google.

I thought the clear forms did that, but can't test it right now.

If you double click in the empty google search box the list drops down of previous search terms. If you hover the mouse over one and press the delete key on the keyboard it deletes it. If you have a lot you can hold down the delete key and let it repeat. It can be a little fiddly since you have to keep the mouse over the words.

Hmmm tried double clicking on empty box and nothing came up! Sorry to keep on about it but I know there is some way of showing past search terms.

The down arrow key should open the drop down box too. It should also open if you type a single letter. If not I'm wondering if it's been disabled.

In internet options - Content tab. Click Autocomplete and see if 'Forms' is unticked.

To Stop Saving Search History
For Google Toolbar,
Select Settings (button on the Google Toolbar)
Options, Search Box Settings
Untick the option for Save The Search History Across Sessions
