Did it ever work on this PC? Do you have a CD with it containing software that must be installed on the PC before it can work?

And do you have XP/Vista/windows98?

popsycal · 14/06/2008 14:12

we bought a little gadget from tesco for abotu 6 quid

you plug it into a usb port on your pc and then stick your memory card into it

can use it for digital cameras and phones

Try the Sony Ericsson website for software, but beware, their photo suite software can cause problems if you are running Vista.

Have you got a slot on your PC (or directly on printer) for your memory card?

Now I am on Vista I find it quicker and easier to just plug the card in directly.

if your computer has bluetooth, you can do it wirelessly

Greyriverside · 14/06/2008 15:41

did you mean it's ok now you have the gadget or it's that you are having trouble with.

mankymummy · 14/06/2008 20:56

Well it's very odd. The user guide from their website makes no mention of a USB port. It just says use infra red (which means buying an infra red addon for the PC)

I think that means something like this USB to IRDA Infra-Red Dongle and plugging it into the PC. I know nothing about infra red though so perhaps someone can confirm that.

Greyriverside · 14/06/2008 22:16

First try looking into the menus on the phone to activate infra red and try it on and off. Perhaps they changed the phone and not the manual.

I had a similar problem with all my phones cause the PC never seems to recognise the USB connection. You need to unplug everything then change the connectivity settings on the phone then plug it back in again and hopefully the computer will pick it up. The 'scandisk' is what you put the memory card into to transfer it to your computer and thats what I would normally use. You may be better off taking your phone to Boots and using their machine. i always found the staff really helpful too

mankymummy · 15/06/2008 07:01

thanks everyone, will try changing connectivity settings and if that fails will go to boots. thanks.

seems odd because they supplied the usb cable with the phone but no software so assuming it was plug and play.
