is there a home and end key on macbook keyboard?

right just sussed it out I think

alt key next to the arrows does the job

now how about right clicking for spellcheck,can I do that?

on the MacBook Pro the End/Home keys are on the arrow keys and got to by holding down the function key whilst pressing them.

Right click by holding CTRL and clicking. Or customise your options in System Preferences.

For spellcheck look in the toolbar at the top of the screen, in most applications if you click "edit" the drop down list will include "spelling and grammar"

I have to run some NHS software on my MacBook, which needs Windows..grr...

Have ordered an extra gigabyte of RAM, and parallels software, but have been told that I won't be able to install Windows XP that came with my dd's old and knackered pc, as Microsoft only allow one installation per package.

I noticed I can get XP for about £50 on Amazon, with OEM licence.....does it really matter that I'm not a manufacturer?

I looked at Amazon, and reading the reviews it seems that it is possible to use the OEM version of xp, if a bit of a pain to register it. It may be worth this hassle though, as it is a LOT cheaper.

...I can vouch that Windows works on my iMac (I installed vista on it as an alternative, just really to see if I could. Now THAT is geeky). It is very easy, as if you search for "boot camp" using the spotlight feature it gives you a printable and easy to follow installation guide. It will use a fair bit of hard drive space though, I think 12 gb is the very minimum, I partitioned 32 gb (out of 250) on my iMac...

....though being this geeky I feel I should still be living with my Mum and have an extensive collection of superhero comics.

OEM licenced software is typically sold with a new computer.. ..which you actually have - especially as you're going to be installing it on a computer (the Parallels virtual machine) that has no operating system on it currently.

OEMs register and activate in the same way as other MS software - installation key then over the Internet automatically.

I'd use Parallels or VMWare Fusion over Bootcamp only because you can run both together rather than one or the other. With Parallels there's something called Coherence mode which allows you to drag and drop between windows and mac applications..
