Can anyone help me please with a Facebook/instagrammaccount/group question?

A local sports club type group has a private Facebook group that was set up by the original administrator and it shows under his private Facebook account.

That same sports club now has an Instagram account and we want to link said Instagram account to the Facebook group so that when somebody posts on the Instagram account, it automatically shows on the Facebook group as well.

How do we take the group away from the origina administrator’s private Facebook account and link it to the Instagram account?

I am now admin on the group.

You can’t sorry, you can only link an Instagram account to a page and at this point, everything would be public.

Could he set up some kind of auto repost so that whenever his instagram creates the post on FB, it automatically gets shared in the group?

Or is he nothing to do with the club any more? If that is the case you might need to set up a new FB page for the club and a new instagram account for that and make a post on the group and old account asking everyone to follow the new account instead.

You could look whether it's possible to change which FB account the instagram account is linked to and whether he could change it over to a page, which he and you are both admin of and then he removes himself as admin.

1. we are trying to take the FB group / page away from his private FB account as although he is still involved currently, he is trying to step back and eventually away.
2. Ideally, when someone does an instagram post, it would be great if it showed on the FB page too. The pages both need to be private as they are concerning )and showing photos sometimes) of youngsters.

The only way you can do this is by having a personal IG/FB with the security set up correctly so it isn’t public. However, it would have to belong to an actual person otherwise it goes against meta’s rules.

I think the best thing to do would be to create an additional profile under your current one, and link this to the IG account (if it is possible to link an additional account to IG; I haven’t tried sorry!)

You should be able to transfer the IG account by changing the personal details (email etc) to the new person.
