Hello. I am starting out as a childminder and want to make a leaflet to give to prospective parents but have no idea how to do it. I have windows vista/office 2007.

Any tips?

Oh, by the way, I mean like something with a few pages, not a single page thing.

if you have publisher, then there are templates with it for booklets etc, if you only have word, there might be something on office online in the word templates section - you basically change the type and photo's to what you wan't and if you google it you'll probably find a tutorial. Sorry i can't be clearer than that, but I've learnt all my DTP and photo editing stuff by trial and error!

Use word (or powerpoint).

Design 1 page on 1 page then use your print options to "print 2 pages per sheet". Then you can fold the pages in half.

You need to sit with a piece of paper to work out which page of the leaflet is page 1 word document of the printed document etc. and print on the second side after you have printed the first - if that makes sense.

So if you were going to do a A5 leaflet with 4 pages (i.e. 1 sheet of paper) you would print leaflet page 1 then 4 on the first side. Reinsert your paper into your printer and then print pages 2and 3. It takes a bit of practice and logic to get the order and re-insertion of printer paper right...but it is not as hard as it sounds.

Hopes that makes some sense...or that a more articulate MNetter has beat me to it .

In the past I have made small A5 booklets, using MS Word.

Landscape A4, two columns per page.

I got too confused with letting Word order things... so I didn't let it. Instead work out which page faces which once folded.

These days I don't make leaflets/brochures for printing out. Instead I create them as PDF, for view/download from my website. Those are much easier - and I usually use PowerPoint as I find layout of images easier in that. See my thread over on the Childminders, nannies, au-pairs board.

You could consider using VistaPrint, who will print you a batch of leaflets - tri-fold type. You design it on their website, using a template.

Otherwise, simple A4 sheets in a clip-folder can be quite acceptable.
