What should I do if I have reason to believe my email account is not working?

I have 2 email accounts one with a hotmail address and one with a blueyonder address. Both seem to be faulty.

First the hotmail address stopped working but seemingly only between my best mate (Paperchain here on MN) and me. I could receive emails from other people and send emails to her, but her emails to me suddenly stopped working.

Now my blueyonder address seems to be not working. PC was trying to send me emails yesterday that were not getting through, and someone here on MN said they had catted me but I have not received that either.

Just now, I emailed my blueyonder address from my hotmail address and nothing came through.

I am less bothered about the hotmail address which I only have for MN. But my blueyonder address is my main means of contacting people. What do I do about it? Is there some way of checking it? Someone to phone?

have you accidently marked emails from paperchain as junk in your hotmail account. If this is the case all new mail from paperchain will automatically be placed in the junk area - have you checked ....

Mailboxes are not selective about whom they receive messages from

DumbledoresGirl · 20/05/2008 10:29

Yes I checked the junkbox when PC's emails stopped arriving for me in hotmail.

Blueyonder does not have a junkbox that I am aware of...

hello littlelapin. Kalo20 here. My DC's still talk about the wonderful MN Xmas presents. TY again ...

right back to messaging issues...

K20 · 20/05/2008 10:32

does paperchain get a bounce back message indicating her emails are not getting to you ?

DumbledoresGirl · 20/05/2008 10:34

NO she does not.

OK, since talking here, I have emailed fr details of a job and have received the details back so blueyonder does seem to be working again now.

Littlelapin, would it be terribly rude of me to ask you to resend your email? I guess it has lost its relevance now, but I would like to know if the problem with receiving emails has been resolved.

can paperchain email you on your hotmail now ?

DumbledoresGirl · 20/05/2008 13:06

Well, your second email has not reached me yet Littlelapin so goodness knows what is going on now.

PC is not online at the moment, but no, I don't expect she can contact me on hotmail as that has been a long standing problem, whereas the blueyonder problem only started yesterday.

Oops, missed out the vital information that I suddenly received a backlog of emails on blueyonder a short while ago, although still not all the emails I have been expecting.

This happeed to me a while ago.

Go to sent box and delete what u don't need. they stop u from receiving/sending any more when u reach a limit.

It worked for me, i was baffled for days and ended up calling virgin at about £6 later.

good luck.

DumbledoresGirl · 20/05/2008 13:35

Thanks for that suggestion windyweather. I am forever deleting my inbox and my deleted messages box, but I have obviously neve deleted my sent items box. It was bulging! But it is now empty and I hope this will make a difference.
