google earth is updated every few years, some areas "renewed" quicker than others such as london

Hulababy · 19/05/2008 21:43

Google Earth is updated every so often. My estate is about 3 years old at the moment on Google Earth.

KatyMac · 19/05/2008 21:43

It depends

Some photos are more recent than others - but I don't think they are realtime tbh

RustyBear · 19/05/2008 21:43

Last time I looked at our road on Google Earth, it still showed the house next door, which was knocked down & replaced with flats over 2 years ago.
I think some areas get updated more often than others.

ditto what everyone else has said.
our area seems to get updated quite frequently.
the place we went on holiday was not to be seen and they've been ther eover 2 years lol

EvelynsDad · 19/05/2008 21:57

I reckon ours is more than 5 years old.

bundle · 19/05/2008 21:58

definitely not real time

i spotted our house because of the disabled parking bay just a few doors down - the woman who was reg disabled died a few years back..and now the bay has been gone at least 4 years

Our house appears on Google Earth in it's original state with no extension. The extension was built over 5 years ago, and you can see my little black peugot 205 in the drive

silly question I know, but can anyone explain how to find your street on google earth? Had a quick look under google but it seemed a bit confusing

duchesse · 19/05/2008 22:10

No- they update every so often but mostly it is 2006 at the latest. Our house is 2006, other parts of Devon earlier. The new city centre shopping mall is there around mid-2007. It would be a little freaky imo if you could be watched sunbathing in real time by satellite by Joe Public (I have no doubt that surveillance satellites orbit the globe filming in real time, but not for Google Earth).
