No idea how to help, but bumping for you

Buda · 19/05/2008 21:23

Bump!

Nighbynight · 19/05/2008 21:25

In phone settings, is there a "silent" setting? It might override the volume switch on the side.

onlyjoking9329 · 19/05/2008 21:26

i need the phone for urgent phone calls from carers in the night, i haven't had thetime to search the web for answers on this problem

no iphone here, but bumping...

kid · 19/05/2008 21:29

Found this on the web, perhaps it will work for you?

Before it stopped working, were you using your headphones?

If so, this is a known bug/deficiency for the iPhone. The phone thinks that your headphones are still plugged in. To fix, take your headphones and rapidly plug/unplug them untill everything starts working normal.

QuintessentialShadows · 19/05/2008 21:31

OJ, I have a same-ish problem, I just bought a an IP phone to use with msn or skype or landline. I have been bugging my dh to help me fix it, if we find a solution to mine, I will post.

Hope you are ok.

ShinyPinkShoes · 19/05/2008 21:33

Have you tried taking it all apart, battery etc, and putting it back together?

onlyjoking9329 · 19/05/2008 21:37

i have never even used the headphones so it cant be that,i have rebooted and sync it but still the same, mate said there is an iphone help line but i cant find the number

Oh Iphone, sorry I thought you meant IP phone.... I am useless

Nighbynight · 19/05/2008 21:40

you might try the headphones thing anyway?

ShinyPinkShoes · 19/05/2008 21:42

Try calling this number Jo:

0800 048 0408 and explaining the situation. The designated support line closes at 8pm

Will continue to search for a solution.

United Kingdom (44) 0870 876 0753* www.apple.com/uk/support

just found this from the iphone site - any good?

ShinyPinkShoes · 19/05/2008 21:48

The online support page suggests you check that airplane mode isn't switched on.

Even if it is switching it on and then off again can help re-set it.

nell12 · 19/05/2008 21:49

Bump

onlyjoking9329 · 19/05/2008 21:51

thanks, i have tried both umbers and it is closed until tomorrow, have tried the airplane thing and no different

The only other thing I can suggest is restoring it to factory settings.

Tickle · 19/05/2008 21:53

Can you change the ringtone - maybe that would reset something?

My phone sometimes goes really weird - the only way to fix it is to take the battery out, wait 20 seconds and put it back. It might work for yours too

onlyjoking9329 · 19/05/2008 22:09
