I don't want to renew Norton, so which one is best?

Avast? I think my DP has just installed that one on our lap top but I have no idea about these things or whether it is any good or not but an IT guy recommended it to him!

AVG and Avira are both good. And ZoneAlarm for your firewall.

mybrainaches · 18/05/2008 16:39

I have just switched to McAfee after my Norton was corrupted and resulted in 187 trojen horse viruses

lazarou · 18/05/2008 21:50

Norton is dreadful isn't it? I've heard it's difficult to get rid of once you install it too!

Yep, I downloaded and paid for a new subsciption of Norton when the old one had corrupted, and guess what?...............the viruses corrupted that one too

Rachmumoftwo · 18/05/2008 22:40

This may be a very stupid question, but what use is anti-virus software that gets corrupted by a virus? I use AVG free edition. Hope it's good.

Try Omniquads stuff.

here

Look for total security.

WilfSell · 18/05/2008 22:45

On the Gadget Show recently they had an, erm, gadget which was basically another whole computer in a stick that ran the whole security thing so your actual computer wouldn't be recognised. Sounds promising but no farkin idea what it was called or how it works.

Yoggi Gatekeeper WS

Marina · 18/05/2008 23:37

Kaspersky got good reviews in PC Pro recently and we are trialling it

QuintessentialShadows · 18/05/2008 23:37

WilfSell, something like anonymous surfing? Software that lets you take on numerous random ip addresses so you never leave a trail and cant be pinned down?

lazarou · 19/05/2008 10:45

I like the look of the yoggi dongle. I suppose dh will just end up downloading one for free though.
