Getting Advice on mobile phones

An elderly friend in his 80s needs to replace a mobile phone. His funds are limited so he is in the rather risky area of getting second hand.
When going into a phone shop its all chat about this model and that model so he is soon lost.
Is there any place that he could get honest and sympathic advice for seniors that is not driven by a sellars financial motives?

Thanks. As much as i would like to help him i am well out of my depth. I have also heard their is a glut of Chinese copies that are very difficult to see that they are copies but are likely not to perform so well as authentic ones.

GiffGaff and CEX won’t be selling Chinese fakes. If somehow they did, then that’s where the warranty would cover you for a replacement.
