I've had a trojan horse type virus over the past few days including attempts to get my email details. I've just been hijacked by some weird virus along with messages from my computer to update my protection. I can't seem to navigate away from the security page. Do I have to repeatedly run the anti-virus programme (as it seems to want me to do) or is it enough to run the programme once?
TIA

If your antivirus tells you the name then post it because someone will know exactly what to do with that one.

Some Trojans are not recognised as such by antivirus programs. They drop a virus onto your system, your antivirus clears that up, but the original Trojan just creates another copy.

I'd suggest installing Spybot which should sort it out properly.

If you do use spybot don't panic if it finds dozens of suspicious items. It counts some cookies as 'bad' which is correct, but not something to worry about. It's very good at dealing with the true invaders.

Ignore messages offering to repair your pc or to run updates for you, it is most likely a trojen horse virus itself and you will just let more and more in, I had my computer cleaned last week as my Norton corrupted and I ended up with 187 trojen horses
