can you get the new AVG version 8 free?

i can't seem to find the download

I got confused with this too and I am not sure I managed to download anything in the end. I think the free version now means you have to manually check for updates????
My computer did updates this morning though.
I should not have been trying to do it when I did as I was on the phone, reading MN, and trying to entertain the dd's at the time .

VanillaPumpkin, you may as well get your connection sorted out before you download AVG Free 8. You are ok for now, but soon they will stop the updates apparently.

The new version still does autoupdates (two kinds in fact. Updating itself and updating it's virus database)

I've had it on several computers for a week now and it seems ok. The extra stuff is useful too.

I didn't let it install the toolbar. I can never see the point in cluttering things up. I think I had to choose an advanced install to have a choice about that.

Thankyou Grey. I agree. The AVG 7 is still working for now. Hopefully the connection won't take too long to sort. Off to do my second test for them now.

there was an option to not install the toolbar gr it was quite painless to install.

The second test shows it is consistently rubbish so I think I have a case . We will see after the weekend.
