Does this sound like the sort of damage that a magnet would do? and if so, is there anything I can do to get rid? dh is gonna go mad - been on mumsnet too much this afternoon!

Possible, we had a problem with geomag ! Fortunnately tv recovered.

Have you turned the tv off and on again?
DD2 put one of those zoid things near ours the other day and it had the effect you describe but it went back to normal with a flick of the switch.

Ds has done this several times and the tv has always recovered.

my ds did this with a magnet a while ago, right across the middle of the screen, I thought the tv was ruined but dh reset some of the settings and it was fine again - phew. I'll try and remember to ask him when he gets home from work which settings fixed it.

tellnoone that would be good if you could, thanks

DS did this with a great big magnet...luckily it cleared. DH and I told him we had to pay a man a lot of money to mend it.

shame TVs don't have a degauss button.. ...makes the lovely pink and green go away...

EachPeachPearMum · 01/05/2008 23:10

tellnoone I LOVE your name. Very suspenseful!

well, it cleared and our tv man from across the road tells me that it usually will clear if you turn the tv off and then back on again.

thanks all xx
