Can you use itunes with a non-ipod mp3 player?

I've just got a samsung MP3 player... I've never used one before- can I use itunes to download music to it, or does that only work with ipods?

You have to AFAIK burn it onto a CD then transfer it to the mp3 player.

It might be easier to take it back and buy or just get an an ipod shuffle - they are about £30.
