Anyone help me? Willing to spend up to around 1k or just over. But I only need it for word processing, simple spreadsheets and general browsing. So I probably don’t need to spend that much - am just fed up of buying cheaper ones that stop working after a couple of years.

Considering a base level Surface laptop with 8GB RAM and 225 SSD. Or a different brand but with an i7 processor and 16GB RAM.

There seem to be a few with an i5 processor and 8GB RAM that are £4-600. My work one is that spec and seems to cope with a lot! But do the work IT people so something special to it to keep it performing well? I am so confused… Really just want reliable, quick and fairly future-proofed model. Not sure about Apple as I am used to Windows with work. Any advice welcome 🤗

I get ten years out of a MacBook so I’d recommend one. I don’t know of anything else that lasts that long. Differences in operating systems are minimal these days so don’t let that stop you, plus you can buy office for Mac, years ago you used to have to run bootcamp which was a pita but that’s all behind us thankfully.

Otherwise, look at Dell outlet.

Thanks @MargaretBetts . I have a family Office subscription, do you know if that would still work on a Mac?
