Is there any way I can get access to the files I have been working on JUST today? Even if I can't rememeber what I saved it as?

I know I opened an e-mail & I modified it from over 400 words to over 700.

Then I saved it, but I don't know what name I saved it under or WHERE I saved it on my pc

I have had to open the email again (named methodology) and it's at 400 words... so where the hell did the one go I modified?

Any ideas at all?

Have you tried clicking Start button and looking in Documents? Recently viewed documents are stored there.

two ideas for you : one see if your "my documents" folder or the start menu has a "recent documents" part to it. Second idea is go into search and stick the date in as your search criteria.

I have stuck the date into search criteria and it says there are no items to display.

I am kicking myself.

The only thing I can think of is that I maybe didn't save it at all, as when I search todays date 35 things come up but none of them are the modified docu!

I just tried opening an attachment to an email (which is what I think you mean) and saving it. It saved it into Temporary Internet Files.
Now I tried to find it, but windows purposely hides the subfolders in there. Even doing show hidden files didn't work.

I know two ways to get at it.

1. Go to the same email. Open the attachment like you did before. do NOT do save but click "Save As"
   With luck you will see the save box open to the same place and you will see the file you saved earlier. Do not overwrite it. Right click the file and do COPY. Cancel the save box and then paste it somewhere entirely different

2. Install Agent Ransack which searches and finds everything even if hidden.

I have done it over again now but am v.pissed off as I know I had info on the first copy that I don't have on the second one!!

Did you get it to search entire C drive?
Have you tried opening word and looking at your recent files in drop down file menu?
