Metal detectors - do you have one? (thought it best to post in geeky stuff!)

I've just bought one and am very excited at the thought of finding lots of treasure. However, everyone I've mentioned it to seems to think I'm some sort of trainspotter! I had no idea that metal detecting was a nerd's hobby. Please tell me I'm not alone in this....

Bought my parents one for Christmas and we spent a pleasurable few hours finding pieces of tin foil and old nails buried in their garden!

yes you are a trainspotter

never mind

I used to go metal detecting and it was HUGE fun

I've found all sorts of bits and pieces

We've got one, and the only time it was useful was to find wires in the walls of our house.
The dds had fun with it for a while and also found nails and pegs!

I know mp, I'm such a lucky girl! And that doesn't include the copious amounts of tin foil/milk bottle tops.
