Help with Broadband modems and vista

Have spent the whole afternoon trying to sort out FiL's new pc. Can't get an internet connection with old bt modem (not compatible) but have dug out our old one and downloaded the new drivers for it. It seems all fine on the PC but it can't get a connection and I can't see why.

Now I've never used vista before, is there something simple...anyone?

Who is your ISP? Talktalk have a webpage to talk you through connecting with Vista, I used that to set ours up and it worked fine.

Yes you will need to confihure it for your ISP. SOme Modems are designed for a specific ISP.
