I need em to tell me that yes, it is indeed f*cked and write it on a bit of paper.

Are they gonna charge me £50 or summat for that doctor thing they do

When I claimed for a laptop I had to send it to the insurance company for them to decided whether they were going to repair it or replace it (ds pulled it onto the floor and cracked the screen)

I don't know but make sure you don't have any passwords/bank info on it since they are known for having a good nose around

For what it's worth their repairs are apparently £69 just for labour. Taking it apart to check it out would be just as much work so I can't see it being cheap.

I'd hesitate to go there at all since they are also known for being the worst at repairing them and while you don't want it fixed you need someone to know what they are doing and not to say they lost the thing when you go back.

Flame - I know someone that probably would be able to fix it quite cheaply

It is completely dead (various tech mates have confirmed). Bloody insurance company say I have to have it verified

I have been desperately trying to work out if I know anyone who runs some sort of independent computer place who could do it for me.

I will see if the guy I know can do anything for you if you would like.
Did the insurance company say who it had to be verified by or just to be on some kind of headed paper?

Flame · 06/04/2008 12:03

Just headed paper i think - proper paperwork is coming soon though

When I see him online next I will ask him for you if you want? he has a logo for when he invoiced the firm I used to work for so can't see why he wouldn't be able to do some headed paper.
