I think I want a low spec laptop

We have a desktop PC that does everything we want. But it's upstairs in our spare room. I have a work laptop which we use to do computing in a more sociable way, and I'm thinking of buying a laptop for us.

We'd only use it for internet, email, a bit of Excel. Would need a wireless connection, and I'd like to be able to network it to the other computer for printing and file sharing. Don't do PC gaming (unless you count Scrabulous!), and would use the other PC for photo editing etc.

What sort of spec would I need? And where would be a good place to look?

We just use the net and store some photos, just brought an acer from asda, £300, we're really happy with it

Saw that £300 Acer advertised and was very tempted. is it any good?

Moneysavingexpert has a thread on their forum discussing a £280 laptop and asking if anyone has found cheaper.
