Geeky stuff

anyone know how I can put a background on an excel sheet so I can actually read it?

I have this massive database and I want to be able to look through it without my eyes going funny

previously I had applied a colour to every 10th row by copying a format, but then when I have to sort the info in a differen way it all goes wrong obv

I just want to be able to have a visual break from all this endless WHITE WHITE WHITE WITH NAMES AND ADDRESSES STRETCHING OFF INTO THE DISTANCE

please

(i have worked out how to put a picture background on but this is USELESS)

navy text on soft blue is quite relaxing

and make sure you're using a font that renders well at small size eg Verdana always renders better than Geneva

using a fill so you can't see the cell boundaries helps a lot too

some of the pattern fills aren't too bad if you use them in eg sky blue and white

oh thanks will try

can you get them to play soothing music when opened?

erm you could write a quick bit of VBA to colour every 10th (or whatever) row
let me know if you want to and I'll figure it out, it'll only take a few mins
(She says, hopefully!)
