Problem typing '+' in PowerPoint

I'm writing a presentation at the moment, and whenever I type '+' using the keyboard it comes up with a space next to it that I can't delete. It looks as if it's typing the '+' and then tabbing. So when I write:

'name + font', it looks as if there's an extra space before the word 'font'

Any suggestions?! Being a bit of a pedant I can't bear it if people I'm presenting to think I've made a mistake with my spacing!

Is your text box format set to justify? - this will spread the text out to fit the box size.
Try left aligning the text & see if it makes any difference.

No that's not it.

The really weird thing is that it deletes the space before it, so that:

'word +' becomes 'word+'

BUT the same doesn't happen if I type =, which is the same key!

It seems to be a problem with just that text box, as I can type it perfectly well if I'm just entering straightforward text or using other text boxes, so instead of cutting and pasting that text box on to my other charts I'll creat a new one.

Weird though!

Powerpoint has an autocorrection feature that could be responsible if it thinks that it SHOULD be word+

Have a look on the Tools menu at Autocorrect options.

Oh perhaps not if just that text box then

LL - spot on - if I change the font it corrects itself!

But as we have a 'house style' that doesn't really sort it out. Still, at least by creating another text box it has gone away.

I think it was a rogue text box - the spirit of Bill Gates!
