how do i recover more free space/memory

i have 38gb of memory but only have 8gb of free space. I have deleted everything i dont use and have backed everything else up. i reset factory settings but still only have 8gb do i need a new hard drive or can recover this memory space?

The files you've deleted may be in the Recycle Bin - go to that and empty it, that might free up more space

There is confusion between memory and disk space. 38GB of memory would be exceptional - my new PC has 4GB.

Splash out on an external hard drive, e.g. Freecom Hard Drive Classic 500GB for £66.

Do you really need extra space?

8GB seems plenty for most purposes. Unless I was storing digital video, or large numbers of photos, I would expect 8 GB to last a long time.
