Buying iTunes as a gift

Can anyone solve this problem? Ds1, who lives in the US, is trying to buy dd2, currently in the UK, some iTunes for her birthday. But it seems that if he buys in the US, they can only be downloaded to an ipod in the US. Conversely, he has tried to buy her Itunes in the UK but the site won't accept an order from the US. Is there some way round this? TIA!

there are a load of silly region regulations with copyright, whichb is why we have the region 1 / region 2 DVD thing. that will be why itunes is like that, and I doubt there's a way round it, other than for your ds to paypal you the money and you to buy the voucher..

Thanks. It seems silly that the WWW exists yet there are all these ridiculous restrictions on things.
