I have 2 computers
I have a cross-over cable (It's purple - I like it - it doesn't seem to work)

I have used the wireless network wizard about 73 times & gave up

I have only used the network wizard about 41 times

I could cry

Can anyone help me step by step?
With a kind of idiots guide?

Thanks - I am desparate

Way-Hay the Old computer can now see and use files on the new computer

The new computer is still being a PIA & not seeing or using the old computer

But we are starting to have some success

I dont claim to be a networking whizz but I do first line IT support so try me ..how far are you getting now ??

KatyMac · 23/03/2008 19:17

Lets start with some basic stuff

Will it work better if I use this cross-over cable or should I be going for wireless straight away?

other people might disagree but I always say get connected with a cable first...

frasersmummy · 23/03/2008 19:21

I see that..sounds like she is more knowlegable than me .. but as she has gone out i though i would give it a go

she can laugh at my efforts when she gets back

KatyMac · 23/03/2008 19:21

OK

Each computer speaks to the internet nicely
But not to each other even with the cable

KatyMac · 23/03/2008 19:27

sounds to me like hardware failure

might be a duff cable or a duff network card in the new pc..

sorry I think i need to leave this to someone with more expertise

KatyMac · 23/03/2008 19:38

No problem

If it was a duff network card would I still be able to get a wireless internet connection?
