I have been less than assiduous in updating my website and plugins and found it has become infected with malware and looks like a lot of files have been removed (was getting a “You are the millionth visitor” page, and now it’s just a white screen).
I have no idea where to start with removing files individually, I don’t know whether the backup is infected too or ever tried to restore using a backup so I’m thinking of just deleting everything from the cPanel and rebuilding from scratch as it was due a makeover anyway (new branding, different direction, poor layout, pictures not optimised etc).
Before I do that, is there anything I need to be aware of? If everything is deleted, can I just do a fresh Wordpress/Genesis install through my hosting provider?
