How do I go about transferring all my songs on my old PC to my new laptop? I plugged my iPod into my laptop and it transferred over all my purchased music but not all my other stuff. I still have over 2000 songs to transfer across. Am I going to have to do it CD by CD or is there an easier way of doing it

memory stick?
not sure, i thought you would have been able to do it via the ipod

Ah, thank you. I don't live near a PC Worl but will pop into Currys or Comet later on and ask there. At least I know it's possible to do now and wont have to sit for hours transferring CDs

A usb transfer cable is probably the cheapest & fastest way, but the cable's not much use afterwards. If you have money to spare, I'd get an external hard drive (You can get smaller ones more cheaply than these) The advantage of this is you can keep the music (& other files if you want) on the external drive as a backup, in case you laptop packs up.

one thing to be aware of.. along with the folder that contains the music files on the PC... there is also an xml file in the same directory.. it is really important that you also transfer this file to the new PC..

If you do not transfer this file your ipod will be treated as a new device and will try to resync everything again

Download Podutil. It will take the songs off your ipod and put them on your computer using an ordinary USB cable. It's free to download. Just google it.
