Web Cam - receiving pictures ?

Hi - I don't have a web cam, but my Dad has one and wants to use it. Do I need to have a web cam in order to receive pictures ? Or is there any software I can download in order to receive pics ?????

you can receive the webcam over MSN because my friend did it to show me her baby

I suppose you can do it with any IM software which do you have

Thanks PB - do I need to just be online then ? ie;When the call comes through (over skype) - I pick up..then what ? Does my laptop inform me of a program trying to get through or do I have to be on a specific site or something ???
Sorry for all the Q's - my Dad thinks I am tech support...
