How and why do they get tangled up into massive knots when we haven't even touched them?
The ones at the back of our pc are worst, but mp3 player headphones seem to do the same.

Is there something we are doing wrong or do they just have a life of their own?

They have a life of their own, just like wire coathangers... I've no idea what they get up to when we're not watching ...

I try to bundle up the spare cable at the back of the PC and TV etc, so it doesn't have as much chance to tangle, but then you find you need to move something and end up pulling out the plugs from the sockets, so not sure that's actually such a good idea...

It's a nightmare in our house, too. I have a friend who never has any visible cables in her house, anywhere, not even for table lamps. How she does it is a mystery to me.
