Webcam that won't work with Skype, Why?

Hello, hoping somebody can help me with this. I have a recent HP laptop with integrated wc, and it's impossible to start my video with it during a skype conversation. I've looked in video settings, i have a choice between the default web cam and the HP ine, neither seems to make a difference. I can receive other people"s video, why is it i can't seem to send mine? It does work by the way, i can start it up independently of skype. TIA!

have you got it int hte correct port? is it installed correctly as yuo usulaly have to installe it wiht the laptop first? i had this problem too but cannot figure how i did it wihtout being on my laptop!!!

well it's not external, so no port, it's an integrated one. I might try plugging my old web cam in and seeing if that makes a difference. It does work tho, i can see myself fine, the point is i want other people to see me
