Talking of Macs-How do you cut and paste a link ?

I'm damned if I can master the cut and paste thing on a MacBook and would be eternally grateful if someone could talk me through it...sort of the 'Janet & John post a link" version Luddite emoticon

First of all I did those things but the cursor did not flash and the Mac made a dull thud noise.
What is baffling me is how to click on this page when I am on another page.

You reduce the other page to an icon (the yellow button at the top left hand corner of the window). If this page is open underneath then it will automatically appear.

For the first time EVER a little box just appeared at the bottom of this page with x Find, Next, Previous, Highlight all, Match case on it.
When I clicked on the yellow dot the whole of Firefox vanished along with my link page.

NB clicking the yellow dot just sucks Firefox back into the Dock at the bottom of the screen, it doesn't close it.

so if you click the Firefox icon in the dock it'll appear again
