I am trying to text a friend who is on a different service provider to me. The texts are leaving my phone and I get the message up saying they have reached their mobile - however the recipeint is not receiving the messages. All other text messages are reaching their mobile - just not my messages. What could it be????

One of you may need to take your SIM card out & give it a bit of a clean with a dry cloth to remove any static.

This sometimes happens with my phone and I have several texts all come through at once.

Jazzicatz · 08/02/2008 20:24

I have tried that and nothing - tis a mystery!!!

Motherfunk- it often does work

I was advised to do as I described by a technician from O2

By switching off the fone and taking the battery out you are re-registering it on the network - with the hope that if there are any messages "lost in the system" they will be forced through. If you can get your friend to text you, and then reply to that message, see if that works.

I was a radio engineer in a previous life - not a call centre one though - a proper on

If that fails then there could be a problem on the network with the local BSC (cellsite) if she is only not getting them if she is in one location. Might be worth putting a call into her service provider or yours and asking them to raise a fault.

We have tried all of those things - they can text me but I cannot text back. It is fine however if I call. Very strange!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like you may have the wrong messaging centre number programmed into you SIM... or maybe it is blank.. this sometimes happens and can cause this problem..

PS - cleaning SIM is a nonsense... if the contacts were dirty noting would work.. all pins are required for initial registartion.. as above this is a ruse to make 100% sure you phones resets..

If the messaging service number is right then you need to contact the provider..

ooh.. one other thing that is not clear.. can you
1- text anyone else on the same network?
2- test anyone on a different network (not this friend)??

Jazzicatz · 10/02/2008 19:04

Again done all of those things. My message centre number is correct. I can send texts to others on the same network as my friend. It is a real mystery!! Thanks for all your advice !!!!

if they are being delivered but not received, wouldnt the problem be with your friends's phone?

Jazzicatz · 10/02/2008 19:12

Yes probably Lou - just thought someone on here may know how it can be sorted out!!

i had a problem with my phone like that, i wasnt getting any messages, then i got about 30 at once late one night

the rest came in over the next few days in dribs and drabs, but its been ok since

i would get your friend to call her provider and ask them to check it out

Jazzicatz · 10/02/2008 19:20

Yes I think I will have to Lou - thanks!

Jazzicatz · 10/02/2008 19:25

Its bloody annoying as I can call her and she can send messages to me - really strange!

OP posts:
lou33 · 10/02/2008 19:25

geordiemacminx · 10/02/2008 19:26
