Facebook Admin help please

Helped a friend start a FB page for their business a long time ago and they made me page admin so I could add photos updates etc. I no longer wish to be an admin and have asked several times to be removed but as yet this has not happened. I can't seem to find a way to get myself off or stop the notifications and messages. They are quiet active on the page at the moment so I am getting a lot. They seem to have no issues answering everyone else's messages just ignoring mine! Anyone know how I can get myself off please. For personal and business reasons I can't just turn my phone off or get rid of FB.

Go into the members in the group, find yourself and at the side (the three dots) click on 'remove as admin'

With a FB page, try the following:

Page control
Settings
Page roles
You should see yourself listed and a pencil icon.
It will ask for FB password. Then select remove.

Thanks for the advice unfortunately I don't have the password . The page owner is ignoring my requests to take me off,is there any way round this ?
