I was given a replacement iPhone for Xmas but I still haven't set it up. I don't know how to transfer stuff from the old one. Should I just book a Genius Bar appointment?

I am terrible at computers and tech but iPhone set up is pretty easy. If you have your existing phone near the new one it practically does it all for you. Of course if you’d rather not have the worry then you could always get them to do it.

Yes you can book an appointment. But you might not need to, it is very easy. How old is your old one? If it is older than a 7 you will need to go in store. Because it is vey easy to turn on new, and transfer all old stuff from old phone.

it’s so easy with an iPhone though. Plug the new one in and follow the instructions - have your old one nearby and it will transfer everything over but make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of everything. On your old phone I mean.

You may have to log into apps again on the new one, so make sure you know your passwords for Facebook or whatever - but actually, I think it even does that by itself on some apps from what I recall. Witchcraft.Grin

Setting up a new iPhone should be very straight forward and you will be guided very quickly through the process once you activate your new phone.

Make sure you backup your old phone beforehand and have ready access to your Apple ID and password (as well as bank cards for Apple Pay) and it do it all for you.

Good luck.

If this still proves difficult, find a friend or then resort to a Genius Bar as a last resort.

This is how Apple tell you to do it. Transfer
