Will it reduce my insurance premiums?
If worth getting, any recommendations?

Will it reduce your insurance premiums, possibly

Do you have a dash cam is a question Confused.com ask before you get your quotes

I have a dash cam, it's my second one, had one now for maybe five years

I've got a Garmin Mini. It's very small, it sits behind the rear view mirror, you can view everything on the Garmin app via Bluetooth on your phone

I got it from Halfords and it has a 2-3 year warranty. I'd recommend it

DH has wired it so all the wires are hidden, just start the car up and it records automatically

I forget it's there!

How difficult was it to wire up @AMDB5 ?

It does not reduce our premiums.

However, I got a dashcam after somebody tail-ended me and then claimed (untruthfully) that I had rolled back into him. This resulted in the insurers deciding to split the claim and I lost a couple of years on my NCD. Fortunately it is protected, but my premium went up.

Evidence from a dashcam would have shown that I had not rolled back, and the claim would not have gone against me.

The dashcam was very easy to install. It comes with a very long power cake. The camera suckers onto the windscreen and you run the cable to the edge of the internal panels, then tuck it between the panels and the body. It comes with a little plastic tool to help pouch the cable into place. Ours runs around the windscreen, down between the door hinge and the body, under the floor mat (a useful place to gather up excess cable if there is too much), between the passenger chair rail and the central console and then up into the 12v socket. We have a 12v socket in the central console between the front seats.

Did you get one in the end?
Thinking of getting one for my Dd and wondered if they did wireless ones.

I have one. Was about 50 quid from Halfords a few years ago - Nextbase. I haven't permanently wired in as have moved it between cars.
Very easy to set up and use.
I haven't seen a drop in premium, but then I haven't said I use one.
For me it us peace if mind that I have something to back me up, just in case something happens.
