I haven't got a clue about the printer [technophobe!]but, I've often wondered where the hell you disappeared to

Tis good to see your name back on the boards

Hope all is well.

Hey T good to see you too! I just took a break, lots of things happening in rl, dad going into a home. The idea that I'd catch up on course work crossed my mind but that's about all! So I probably won't be posting a lot as I've some major catching up to do essay wise, speaking of which I'm off to do some now but might pop on for a bit before bed. x

"Waiting to be printed ?" Do you mean from the PC linked to your new printer ? Try cancelling the print jobs, then maybe the wizard will run.

WanderingTrolley · 25/01/2008 19:43

Did you uninstall the old printer?

Mhamai · 25/01/2008 23:55

Thanks Guys, have definatly uninstalled so will try and cancel print jobs.......... Erm, how do you cancel print jobs? sorry but have been away from my pc for months and it's all a bit foreign!

Double click on the print icon on your taskbar and it should open a window showing the print jobs. Right click on each print job and click on cancel print job. It could take a minute or two to clear but that should work.

Thanks discoverlife but I can't seem to locate the toolbar, I've got all this google crap and seekmo toolbar. I'm a techno phobe, make no mistake!

Look at the bottom toolbar, bottom of the page. If you hover your mouse over the thin blue line at the right the printer icon should show up.

milsna · 26/01/2008 10:21

hi, click on start, control panel, double click printers and double click again on your printer, if there are any jobs then right click on the job and cancel, do this for any that are there!

If they don't disappear then let me know and I will talk you through something else also!

I am not a computer whiz but the same thing (I think) happened to me so will try and help

Mhamai · 26/01/2008 18:27

Hi milsna, I did as you suggested but still no joy, me thinks the this printer has it in for me.

Totally uninstal all printers and start again. This time do not plug the printer in until prompted by the disk/pc to do so. What can happen if the usb is in, is that the computer thinks 'new hardware, I know what to do', and it gaily runs with the ball and puts in its own generic 'one driver fits all' printers instructions.

Is there actually jobs in the queue?

Just a thought - this is what happened to me and I will explain what I did as this may be something similar and simple!

before uninstalling - it may be something simple - you need to see if the print jobs are 'jamming' in the queue, you may need to ask it manually to stop spooling!

Close all printer programmes, open control panel, open administrative tools then Services, Find Print Spooler in the list (its alphabetical)

Click once on Printer spooler and at the left hand side you will see

print spooler

Stop the service
start the service

Click stop wait 10 secs
then click restart

open your printer again and see if there are jobs in the queue and if there is they will cancel easy this time

try and print now!

if it doesn't then try ininstalling and reinstalling

hth x
