Beep codes on sick laptop - will they eventually stop?

I took my work laptop home tonight (Lenovo Thinkpad). It’s occasionally been yelling LOUD beep codes at me when I start up over the last few weeks, but the IT guy advised that if I held the power button down long enough (“no, longer than that”), it would eventually start up properly. And he’s been right! Until tonight. (Yes, I know I should have taken it to IT for a proper look; I’ve just been really very busy… 😳)

Anyway, holding the power button down for minutes at a time is doing nothing to stop the beeps and so I’ve removed the power cable and shoved it under the sofa so that the bastard thing doesn’t keep us awake all night. My question, to those who understand wtf I’m on about, is: will it eventually stop beeping when the battery runs out? Or am I going to have to walk into work tomorrow with the laptop beeping furiously at everyone I pass?

Probably keep beeping until the battery runs out.

Depending on what stage in start-up - that might be a very, very long time.
